Middle School Band Concert

I attended the Middle School Band Concert on Tuesday evening. I have a grandson who plays the trombone in the 6th grade band. The kids did very well. And what a bunch of kids there are! I love band concert especially when my grandkids are involved in it. This same grandchild just celebrated his 13th birthday too. One proud grandma I am!!

Have a great and safe weekend!!

Tips on Grilling

Let's talk about ways to make cooking on the grill easier and more fun.

1) Before you light the barbecue, spray the grill rack with non-stick cooking spray. This works great on gas or charcoal grills. Apply a liberal cook and food won't stick, making cooking and cleanup easier.

2) Immediately after grilling, make a ball of alluminum foil and "scrub" and warm grill rack surface with it, taking care not to burn your fingers.

3) Before setting a pan on the grill rack to warm bbq sauce or cook additional foods, rub the pan bottom with bar soap and it will be easier to clean the soot off the bottom of the pan when you are done.

Happy Grilling!!

Jesus Love Me (for seniors)

I have attended 3 funerals for elderly people in the last month; plus one for a 60 year old man. Someone sent me an e-mail and enclosed this song of "Jesus Love Me for Seniors". I think it is beautiful and wanted to share it..................
Jesus loves me, this I know.
though my hair is white as snow.
Though my sight is growing dim
still He bids me trust in Him.
Chorus: Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus love me the Bible tells me so.
Though my steps are oh, so slow
with my hands with Him I'll go
on through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.
When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
telling me in words so clear
"Have no fear, for I am near".
When my work on earth is done
and life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
then I'll understand His love.
I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.

Thoughts of the Elderly

We had a wonderful time of worship and fellowship again at our church yesterday.

We have quite a few elderly folks (late 80's and early 90's) who come faithfully for worship each Sunday. Some of them are widowed; some come as couples. One couple celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary recently. Many are walking with a cane. Some are holding on to eachother for support.

These folks teach us what it means "in sickness and in health, till death do us part". They show us what it means to be faithful to each other and to their God. They are the pillars of our church. It brings tears to my eyes when I wonder how long will we have the privilege of their presence at worship. They are so special

Today soften your heart and your facial expression.

Collage 2010 Night

Thursday evening we had the fun of attending the local high school's Collage 2010. Many of the school kids performed; some sang, some danced, the choirs sang and the bands played.
We had 2 of our grandchildren involved. One did a comic set and also sang and played the drums. This one is a junior. The senior played the drums, the bass guitar, and also sang.
They are both very good at what they do. What a fun night! Sorry I did not get pictures; we were to far away to take good pictures. There were two grandparents there who were very proud - that would be US!

Thank you for your prayers

Lord, I come to You with prayer requests,

For I know You always know what's best.

The plans I make I leave with You

that You may change them if You choose.

And loved ones who have lost their way

will come back to You, dear Lord, I pray.

An answer from You means so much,

for those who need Your healing touch.

For those who fear may have Your peace -

their faith in You to be complete.

Now use me, Lord that I might do

whatever it is You want me to,

and whatever I do, wherever I go,

Your love to others help me to show.

Millie Torzilli

Thank you so much for remembering my neice in your prayers. The memorial service yesterday was beautiful. The family has some hard times ahead of them but their strength comes from the Lord. Thanks again.

Prayer Request

I'm asking for your prayers for my neice and her family. Last week Wednesday her husband passed away after a year-long struggle with cancer. There was a time when the doctors felt that he was going to survive the cancer but just a few weeks ago they found it had spread to the brain.
He became very depressed and his behavior became very serious and he passed away last Wednesday.

The family serves the living God but this is a very stressful and trying time for them. Prayer for strength and comfort for all involved. Thank you.

Happy Mother's Day on Sunday

Just a note to say I am so privileged to be a Mom to two wonderful sons and one wonderful daughter. Also a mom-in-law to one great son and two great daughters. May I always be worthy of their love. Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out in blog land.

Thoughts for Friday

Teach us, dear God,
that the power of prayer
is made stronger
by placing the world in your care!
When a man's ways please the Lord, he makes even his
enemies to be at peace with him.
Proverbs 16:7
Today diminish doubt and increase your faith.

Colonoscopy time..........

I had a colonoscopy yesterday. Everything went well. I am quite tired so I am just laying around today. I still have pain in my stomach but that will go away soon I hope. My brother had colon cancer so it is important for the rest of the family to be checked. I had only one pulp this time so I don't have to have another one for five years. Great!!

How about you? Have you had a colonoscopy lately?

Mondays Tips

It is a beautiful sunny day in Michigan. Yesterday (Sunday) we witnessed 2 infant baptisms. This was a welcoming sight; for just in the last few weeks we said "Good-bye" to two elderly men who are now spending eternity with our Lord.

I have a couple of tips for you -
1) Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.

2) To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of
sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

Have a Blessed Day!!

Sunday Scripture

The heavens are telling the glory of God;
they are a marvelous display of his craftsmanship.
Psalm 19:1
Today, when you look at a flower,
see God's love and a message from Him.
