THOUGHTS FOR THURSDAY

How to Plant your Garden

First - you come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses.

For the garden of your daily living -

Plant 3 rows of peas: 1) peace of mind

2) peace of heart

3) peace of soul

Plant 4 rows of squash: 1) squash gossip

2) squash indifference

3) squash grumbling

4) squash selfishness

Plant 4 rows of lettuce: 1) lettuce be faithful

2) lettuce be kind

3) lettuce be patient

4) lettuce really love one another

No garden is without turnips: 1) turnip for meetings

2) turnip for family

3) turnip for friends

Water freely with patience and cultivate with love.

Remember you reap what you sow.

Tip for Tuesday

A friend of mine droped a sewing needle while sewing and later steped on it. It went pretty far into her foot and was very painful. My tip for Tuesday would let her avoid this pain. Ouch!!

Keep a small magnet in your sewing kit to help you find and pick up pins and needles quickly.

Busy Sunday

We had Vacation Bible School at our church last week. Today was VBS Sunday. The kids gave a program along with our Pastor giving a message about what they learned during VBS. After the service we had a Ice Cream Social so we could get to know the children and families that came but are not a part of our church family. My 2 grandchildren (Emily and Melissa) were the co-chairpersons for VBS this year. They did a great job organizing everything and they had some wonderful helpers.

We had the family over for a belated Fathers Day dinner today. We ate outside under the trees. What a beautiful day for an outdoor picnic! And would you believe it? I forgot to take pictures.

This evening our church service was combined with our neighboring Reformed church. A nice way to end the day.

Bad storm on Wednesday

We had a very bad wind/rain storm in our area on Wednesday.
We had alot of branches and alot of flooding. This picture is taken of
a yard in our neighborhood. These were beautiful maple trees
which stood in that yard for years. Fortunately nothing hit the house or barn.
Much of the area were without electricity.
Our creek ran into our pond so our pond is looking really bad right now.
I do not remember ever experiencing such a awful scary storm before.

Thought for Thursday

I came across this saying the other day and thought true it is............

The quickest way to find something lost

around the house is to buy a replacement.

There is no replacement with you, God.

Be with me each day.

Note: I am having trouble responding to some of your blogs. I do visit but can't respond.

Sorry.

Tip for Tuesday

Sometimes cleaning a cheese grater is more time-consuming than shredding the cheese because of the cheesy coating that quickly accumulates on the sharp ridges. You can shorten the cleanup by spraying the grater with nonstick cooking spray before each use. Then use an old toothbrush to scrub the tiny spaces after you're done.

Happy Fathers Day

I'm thinking today of my father. I do not have any memories of living with my father. As I have written before my mother died when I was very young and after she died I and the youngest two brothers went to live with an uncle and aunt. There were 8 children in all.

Every Sunday my dad and the other siblings would come to our house for dinner and visit. What I remember most is sitting on my Daddy's lap when he came to visit. He had black hair which he combed straight back (without a part). I would get my little comb and play with his hair. I would put a part in it or comb it all down over his face etc. He never complain about this. I guess he just liked it that his little girl would sit on his lap. I know he missed me not living with him and only seeing me on the Sunday.

As time went on my uncle really became my father. I never called him Dad. He was always Uncle Pete but he was my dad in every sense of the word. When I married my Uncle Pete walked me to the front to my husband-to-be. My dad sat in the front row with a big smile on his face.

So I really had the love of two Dads. Both of them are waiting for me in heaven.

TIP FOR TUESDAY

Quick-Fix, Removing Gummy Glue:

To soften gummy glue on a glass or plastic jar, put it in the microwave with a towel over it; set on Low and check it every few seconds or so. The heat softens the glue and you can pull the label off easily.

Thoughts for Monday

It's been a busy few weeks. Two high school graduations - 5 open houses for Graduates. But what a fun time for our grandkids and friends.
It was about 90 degrees for one of the open houses and a week later it was 70 degrees for the next one. This Spring the weather is so crazy. But I'm not complaining. We haven't had tornadoes or other bad weather, just strange with first hot and now cold. And to think it is the middle of June already. Where is the summer going.................
