Thoughts for Thursday

We could learn a lot from crayons........some are sharp,

some are pretty and some are dull.

Some have weird names, and all are different colors,

but they all have to live in the same box.

Tip for Tuesday

This is a tip on using up your lipstick when you can't apply it to your lips anymore. I guess I am to Dutch to just let all that lipstick stay in the bottom of the tube. Sooooooo I take it out and put it in a plastic container. Then I use an sponge applicator to apply it to my lips. Just look at all the lipstick still in the tube. Each clomp was taken from a lipstick tube. I have weeks of color left. Works for me!

DRUNK DRIVERS - STAY OFF THE ROAD

Late monday evening my grand-daughter was coming home from work at Hungry Howies. She stopped for a 4-way stop. A drunk driver came up behind her and slamed into the back of her car. Then he backed up, turned around and left the accident. A little ways down the road he went off the road and drove into a fire hydrant. He tried to run away but was so drunk he didn't get very far.
Melissa is very sore. She says she hurts all over. She had her seat belt on. Her car is totaled. A young man from our church happened to come around the corner at the time of the accident so he helped her out of the car and stayed with her until help came.
We are so thankful to God for his protection. It could have been so much more serious than it was.
I would like to talk to the man who hit her. I pray that he will get help for his drinking before he hurts himself or someone else. I just wish that if someone has to drink they would know enough not to drive. How many lives have been hurt because of drunk driving.

TIP FOR TUESDAY

I have been having trouble with the coffee filter that holds the grounds in the coffee maker. It bends over and the water runs all over. So I went to store and bought the coffee ground holder that you see in this picture. No more water running all over the counter. I don't need to use a paper filter at all.

SPRING RAINS

We had our first thunderstorm last evening (Sunday). We have water standing in our front yard and our pump, keeping the water out of our basement, is working over-time. A sure sign it is Spring. I've seen a few robins and our pair of ducks are back in our pond again. Another sign that Spring is here. We have our bird nests all cleaned out so the birds can build their nest. I know we are scheduled for some cold weather again this week but if it does snow it will be gone again soon. The ground is already warming up. Whatever you find yourself doing today - think SPRING!!

THOUGHT FOR THURSDAY

There is nothing more valuable to give a friend
than a silent prayer offered on their behalf.

TIP FOR TUESDAY

Most cake mixes make a 9 x 13 size cake. So when I bake a cake I usually freeze a portion of it to enjoy at a later time. This is how I do it.
Cut the cake in slices before freezing and interweave each piece
with a piece of waxed paper. Resemble the cake and freeze as usual.
You can then remove as many slices as you need without
having the whole cake defrost.
Enjoy your day.

Observing Lent

The next few Sundays (during Lent and leading up to Easter) we will be hearing a sermon series entitled "Crucified with Christ".

Sometimes people will give up something for Lent. Usually this means giving up something small like not eating chocolate or not watching TV over the 40-day period. This sort of fasting is a good discipline if your small sacrifice reminds you of Christ's sacrifice and helps you appreciate your salvation more. However, sometimes giving up something for Lent can be more of a popular trend that tickles our egos than a spiritual exercise that focuses us on our Lord.

We are encouraged to look past the popular short-term sacrifices of minor things and reflect on what it means to give an entire life to Jesus Christ. We will be wearing red wrist-bands with "Crucified with Christ" printed on them to help us remember that following Jesus means sacrificing our entire lifes, not just giving up small enjoyments for a short time.

This morning sermon was taken from John 2:13-22 - He Cleanses the Temple.

HELP!!

I have a wallpaper border in our bathroom which we are trying to remove. We purchased DIF wallpaper stripper and got the top layer off (with much difficulty). Now we have the sticky paste on yet and cannot get it off. We tried DIF, vinegar and nothing works. If anyone out in blogland has any advice for us we would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance. Thankfully it was just a border.

Tip for Tuesday

The next time you order checks have only your initial (instead of first name) and last name put on them. If someone takes your checkbook, they will not know if you sign your check with just your initial or your first name, but your bank will know how you sign your checks.

Kitten Kitchen Towel Fun

Our senior high group at church are planning an Auction in April. They asked for donations for this sale. I love to embroider so I'm embroidering some retro-kitchen towels as one of my donations. Hopefully there will be some people would love to have them hanging somewhere in their home.
When I was a little girl (many moons ago) I did a lot of embroidering. I even won a First Prize at the local fair with one of my embroidered table clothes. I also embroidered kitchen towels with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. I'm sure some of you remember when those were popular. What fun!
Enjoy your day, friends........................

HONEST PEOPLE

Monday night Ken & I went to our area Burger King to have a sandwich. It was the last day on a coupon we had. I took my purse inside and when I left it was still laying on the bench. I went home never giving my purse another thought. At 11:30 pm the phone rang - it was Burger King telling me they had my purse there.
Ken went to pick it up. I was happy to see everything was still in my purse - my money and also my credit cards.
Sometimes we get the idea that no one is honest anymore but we were very thankful for the honest people working at Burger King.
Enjoy your day!

THOUGHT FOR THURSDAY

Our strength is shown in the things we stand for,
our weakness in the things we fall for.
