Thoughts for Thursday

Beauty tips from Audrey Hepburn
For lovely eyes - seek out the good in people
For a slim figure - share your food with the hungry
For beautiful hair, let a chld run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise - go with the knowledge you are never alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed, never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and one for helping others.

Tip for Tuesday

Fasten a bracklet with ease - Do you feel like a dog chasing its tail when you try to fasten a bracelet? Save time and avoid frustration by anchoring one end of the bracelet to your wrist with a piece of tape. Then you can easily and leisurely find and fasten the clasp.

Relief from the Heat

I woke up to 60 degree weather this morning. What a beautiful morning! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the flowers look like they are enjoying relief from the heat.

I purposely did not check the weather report because I want to bask in the cool air and the not-so-hot sunshine for the moment. Maybe it will get hot and humid again later in the day but for now I'm enjoying it!

Hope you do too!!

Hurting on Friday

I have been dealing with sciatica nerve problem for some time. I started therapy last week and I believe I am getting some relief from the pain. I can not lay down or sit for very long. The pain is quite intense. Hopefully with therapy I will soon be back to normal. (as normal as I can be) ha ha

My friends remind me that getting old is not for "sissy's". I'm afraid I agree with them!

Have a great weekend..............

Thought for Thursday

Victor Cherbuliez once said - Half the joy of life is in little things taken on the run. Let us run if we must - even the sands do that - but let us keep our hearts young and our eyes open that nothing worth our while shall escape us.

Tip for Tuesday

My husband and I eat a bowl of Cheerios most every morning. After the cereal is gone I take the waxed paper liner out of the box and use it as I would a plastic bag. You will be surprise how often you will find a use for this liner. This is my tip for Tuesday. Have a great day!

Sunday was a busy day!

We had a very busy day at church yesterday. We honored our graduates. We installed our new elders and deacons. (Our oldest son was installed as a elder.)

We also celebrated with one of our precious members on her 90th birthday with cake and coffee. Everyday blessings!!

Thoughts for Thursday

SLOW DOWN

It took the great oak many years to grow so tall and strong;

And from its teachings we should learn that swiftness is all wrong.

The hurried pace that tenses nerves and leads to lack of sleep

Will jog us down the race of time with not a friend to keep.

If we could learn to just slow down and wallow through the day,

'Mid flower beds and spider webs and children drenched in play;

If we'd take time to give a smile in payment for a frown;

We all might find a better world if we'd, in fact, slow down.

Tips for Tuesday

If your clothes come out dull and faded, don't reach for extra-strength detergent. Your washing machine might need cleaning. Once a year, run a half gallon of vinegar through a wash cycle. It's an easy, all-natural way to clean out dirt and soap residue.

To get every little piece of lint and dust off your dryer filter, use an old fabric softener sheet as a brush.

Little Things

It's just the little things we do

that makes us wealthy, I have found --

A smile, a hug, or just a handshake.

these things make the world go 'round.

A phone call or just a cheerful note

to brighten soneone's day...

and spending time with children

as they learn, and as they play.

It's not the fortune, or the fame;

It's not the way we dress.

It's not the people we meet --

all of this does not impress.

It's just the kindness that we show.

Forgiveness, mixed with care and love.

It's just the little things we do,

as God observes us from above.

Tips for Tuesday

I came across some of neat tips -

Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup fill it with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes out.

Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if you want a stronger taste of garlic.

Heat lelftover pizza ina nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set the heat at med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy.

Our day in Rockford

Last Friday my husband and I took some time out to enjoy the sights in Rockford. It was a beautiful relaxing day. We visited the various shops, eat at The Old Mill and walk around the area by the dam. It was a good day.
