I'm in business again!!

It is good to be back. I don't know what was going on but I could not submit a new post. It would say I had an error and to report it but it did not tell me where to report the problem. I called my bloging friend Mari and she did something (I don't know what yet) and now I can blog again. Thank you so much Mari. You are one smart lady!

Thanks you to all of you who sent a message saying you could see my blog.

Tonight we went out for dinner with some old friends. We've been visiting once a month or so for almost 50 year. Tonight we went to a nice restaurant in Allendale. Later we played Rummikub. I didn't do so well but we all had a very good time. We finished the evening by having strawberry shortcake and coffee

Testing 1-2-3

Tip for Tuesday

Refrigerator cookies will turn out beautifully if you follow this advice.

You'll need the inner cardboard from a roll of paper towels. Cut the roll length-wise, so you can open this tube. Line the inside with wax paper, then pack your cookie dough inside. Close it up, securing it with rubber bands, and chill the dough according to your recipe. When it's time for slicing, you'll have a perfectly shaped roll. Use a cheese cutter to cut uniform pieces from the roll.

Enjoying Summer

What a beautiful day! The sun is shining,
very little humidity, birds chirping. Who could ask for anything more!

Today open the window of your yeart and let your light and love shine through.
The happiness you share with others will circulate back to you.

Busy Day

VBS Sunday - Ice Cream Social Today!!
What fun the kids had!!
Our family was home for a picnic dinner for Fathers Day.
Had a great time - I'm tired.
I had a little accident a few days ago. I was helping my husband cut a large branch out of the tree. I was holding it down so he could reach way up to cut it off with a power saw.
When he cut through the limb it came down with such force that I landed out flat on the ground.
I have some hip problems already and this did not help that any. I am black and blue and very sore. I know I will heal but I'm not getting around so well and I'm not sleeping very well right now. I guess I should have known better. I know I have trouble keeping my balance.

Where the Roses Never Fade

I am going to a city
where the streets with gold are laid,
where the tree of life is blooming
and the roses never fade.
Here they bloom but for a season,
soon their beauty is decayed;
I am going to a city,
where the roses never fade.
In this world we have our troubles,
Satan's snares we must evade;
we'll be free from all temptations,
where the roses never fade.
Loved ones gone to be with Jesus,
in their robes of white arrayed,
now are waiting for my coming,
where the roses never fade.
This is the song we sang at Aunt Sena's funeral.

Saying Good-bye

Yesterday (Wednesday) my husband and I attended the funeral of my husbands aunt. She was 93 years old. She was very alert up till about 2 monthes ago when she had a heart spell and a slight stroke. In fact, she still lived alone in her home. After her heart spell she was in the hospital for a time and then was transferred to an area nursing home. She continued to go down from there and on June 11 she passed away.

It was very hard to see her so helpless the last few weeks. She also was very confused and seemed very troubled. She was so anxious to go "home" to her husband who passed away just 2 years old. It was a blessing when the Lord took her home.

We will miss Aunt Sena ; she was a very special lady with a heart for service. Her family will miss her too. But we rejoice in knowing where she is and look forward to seeing her again.

Tip for Tuesday

Bug Scraper -Save the plastic net bags from produce such as onions to scrub the car window when it is spattered with bugs. Keep a couple in the car to use at the gas station when washing your windows and then throw them away. Great to have on hand when you're traveling.

Removing bumper stickers - Use a blow dryer to heat the sticker, then use a flat edge, such as an old credit card, and start peeling. Continue to heat and peel. Remove residue with nail polish remover.

Have a great day!

VBS this Week!

Vacation Bible School is at our church this week.
I'm helping with the registration. We have alot of visitors today.
Our theme is "Put on Whole Armor of God".
Our pastor tells the message.
The theme is Bible times, so each child wears a toga.
The front of the church set up like a Biblical scene.
It is interesting to see all the different personalities of the children.
Some come feeling very confident about what is going on.
Some are not so sure they even want to be there.
Some need some coaching to get into their togas.
Some need a paricular color toga .
One little four year old said she should have a blue toga because she had blue eyes and her grandmother says that her eyes look pretty when she wears blue.
What fun they will have this week. And so will I.
Jesus loves the little children!!

Been busy.................

It's been awhile since I did a post. I've been busy with graduation parties, birthday parties, funerals and just plain livin.......

I had my 72nd birthday on June 6. My grand-daughter was born on June 6 so we always celebrate together. She is 22 this year. Sometimes it is quite a feat to keep up with her. She has an unusual amount of energy. (It can't be that I am running out of steam, no way.)

My daughters oldest son graduated this year. I have a grand-neice who graduated also. How did they grow up so fast?

The husband of a good friend of mine passed away suddenly this past Thursday of a heart attack. He went out fishing with a friend; when they got back and was putting things away, he just went down and died. So unexpected. He was a follower of Christ so she knows where he is but it is very hard when you do not get to say good-bye. God's plans are not always the same as ours. They did not have any children so she is very much alone now; although she has lots of friends.

So in life's journey there is great joy, and great sorrow but life goes on and we must be thankful for each day we have. Hoping you all have a great day!

Tip for Tuesday - Window Boxes

We have a window box under our kitchen window. I came across a great tip for keeping dirty water from spraying up on the window when we water the plants.
After you plant your flowers in the window box, put a layer of gravel or marbles on top. When you water or it rains, the dirt won't splash all over the window. I'm tryin it!
