Tanner Graduation 2015

Tanner Vugteveen, son of Gary and Karman graduated May 22, 2015 from Allendale High School.
The gym was packed.  We sat on the bleachers.  It was a long night but a very important one for our grandson.  We are very proud of his accomplishments.  He also is very handsome, decent young man.

Mothers Day happenings

I had a wonderful day.  Worship and praise in the morning.  Delicious dinner with son #1 and family. Dessert with daughter and son #2.  A book to read; hanging baskets of flowers and plant for inside.  Lots of fun just hanging out with the ones I love most.

THOUGHT FOR THURSDAY

People who sing their own praises are apt to be soloists.

TIP FOR TUESDAY

LOOSEN LABELS WITH VINEGAR.
Do you trouble getting labels off from glass, wood, or china?  Brush on some vinegar, let it soak in for a few minutes and then rub off the label.  Works for me....

Know the value of what you're worth....never discount it or mark it down.

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

TIP FOR TUESDAY

Check for dryness of your plants: I always wonder if it is time to water my plants.  I use a pencil to check for dryness.  Take a pencil and push it into the soil.  When you pull it out, if there is dirt on it, don't water just yet.  If it's soil free, go ahead and give it a good soaking.

MONDAYS MUSINGS

Can you believe it?  The first day of March is behind us already.  It is another day nearer to SPRING.  I think everyone was getting tired of the cold, windy February.
I try not to wish the time away but I am getting tired of winter this year.  I still have all my winter decorations out but I am getting eager to put out some spring things.  How about you?  Do you like winter? or are you getting spring fever too.

THOUGHT FOR THURSDAY

We will not make the daisies of our own lives any prettier by being jealous of the roses in our neighbors lives.

TIP FOR TUESDAY

Untangle a snarled gold or silver chain by sprinkling a little talcum powder or baby powder on the knot.  The powder is smooth and slippery and will allow the knotted chain links to separate. This works really well for me.

MONDAY MUSINGS

Yesterday our Pastor asked us the question, What is the meaning of life?  Why am I here?  Why was I born?  The answer, of course, we are here to know God and love God, glorifying and enjoying him forever.

Thinking on that answer, can you imagine what our world would be like if we all knew God that way?  There would be less hate, less worry, less feeling like the world owed us something.  Our life is about God, not us.  I must admit that isn't my first thought when I wake up.  Today I live for You, Lord.  Many times my mind goes to what is expected of me (by others, not God) that day.  Life gets so busy..... we forget why we're here.  It was a good reminder for me that our life belongs to God.

Do you agree?  I hope so.

THOUGHT FOR THURSDAY

Everyone wants happiness, no one wants pain.
But you can't have a rainbow without a little rain.

TIP FOR TUESDAY

Organize your electrical cords.  Keep your electrical cords from getting tangled with ponytail hair bands.  You can buy them at any discount drugstore for a few cents apiece.  They'll help keep your cords in neat little bundles.

TIP FOR TUESDAY

Add sparkle to your sink.  Make your stainless steel sink shine like chrome.  At the end of the day, poor some club soda or white vinegar on a cloth and give your sink a good rubdown.  Then dry it with a clean cloth to prevent streaks.

MONDAY MUSINGS

The weather has been a little warmer than usual for February.  It is nice to have a few days of warmer temperatures so the roads and driveways can be cleared right down to the pavement.
It was a rather quiet Sunday with a Communion service is the morning.  We were in charge of the coffee fellowship following the worship service, serving coffee and cookies.
All and all it was a good week with eating out with some good friends, etc.   Hope everyone is well and enjoying the beginning of another week.

TIP FOR TUESDAY

Increase your towels' drying power.  If you want towels that really soak up moisture, it's important to get out all the laundry detergent.  Just put a cup of white vinegar in the rinse water about once a month.

MONDAYS MUSINGS

We got a lot of snow again today.  Very cold and windy.  Our evening worship service was cancelled.  Very one was encouraged to stay safe at home.
We watched the football game... we don't understand the game very well but it was pretty exciting.

Life is a puzzle.  Look to Him for the missing pieces.

TIPS FOR TUESDAY

Clobber soap scum in your soap dish:
If getting rid of soap scum isn't your idea of fun, here's how you can eliminate it in the first place.  Find a sponge that fits your soap dish and set it underneath the soap.  That way, wet soap will seep into the sponge, not all over your soap dish.  To clean up, just rinse out the sponge.

MONDAY'S MUSINGS

A busy week is over. Volunteering a couple days a week.  Going to a sewing group one morning a week.  Did some visiting this week.  We have a lady from our church who just had knee replacement surgery plus she got shingles.  Our daughter-in-love had microscopic surgery on her knee on Friday. I made dinner and we ate together on Friday evening.   We were invited to our daughters home on Saturday.  Her husband made stuffed green peppers,  which was delicious.  Today we attended our church services and had a coffee afterwards.

I'm ready to begin a new week.........hope you have a good one too.

THOUGHT FOR THURSDAY

Four things you can't recover:
1)  The stone after the throw.
2)  The word after it's said.
3)  The occasion after it is missed.
4)  The time after it is gone.

I DON'T KNOW HAPPENED

Tuesday night I had help backing up my photos to a flash drive.   Now I can't get a picture to come up on my computer for Wordless Wednesday.  I don't know what I did wrong.  Any thoughts?

TIP FOR TUESDAY

Tame your shoelaces:  If your shoelaces untie themselves no matter what you do, there's an easy solution.  Spray a bit of water on them and tie them while they're still wet.  The bow will dry in that position and stay put.

THOUGHT FOR THURSDAY

Until God opens the next door, Praise Him in the hallway.

TIPS FOR TUESDAY

Prolong the life of old leather:  You can make, old, scratched-up leather belts, shoes, and purses look great again with a permanent marker.  Find a matching color and simply mark over the worn spots.
Stay warm today..........it's cold.

THOUGHTS FOR THURSDAY

The scariest feeling in the world is the split second when you loose your balance in the shower and think, Oh my, they're going to find me naked.   lol    Enjoy your day.

TIP FOR TUESDAY

Remove road salt from shoes -  Don't wander around all winter with those white rings of road salt on your leather boots and shoes.  Mix a small bunch of equal parts water and vinegar and wipe the salt away with a cloth.   Works for me.

MONDAYS' MUSINGS

Sunday, our Pastor preached on how we are ONE FAMILY IN CHRIST.  He spoke how there are so many scripture passages in the New Testament about how Christians should get along.  We must show concern for each other, no fighting among us, don't be a troublemaker, don't offend, be of one mind, stick together thru thick and thin.  Be accountable.  He gave us 30 passages; all speaking about getting along.  I believe this shows us how important and pleasing it is to God when we live in harmony with our church family.  Food for thought............

I went to church alone today because my husband has a really bad cold.  It is the season...............
Hopefully he will feel better soon.

BEGINNING A NEW YEAR

Can you believe it? 2015 has already been around for 3 days.
It has been a long time since I have written anything on my blog.  Lots of things have happened in 2014; some good things and we had a few bumps in the road of life, as well.  Everyone does, right?
But now it's a new year and we start afresh. I'm looking forward to see what this year will bring.
