A THOUGHT FOR TUESDAY

Real joy comes not from riches

or from the praise of men,

but from doing something worthwhile.

Movie - The Lost Valentine

My husband watched the Hallmark movie "The Lost Valentine" featuring Jennifer Hewitt and Betty White on Channel 3. It was about a soldier who was missing in action during WWII. It was a Kleenex movie and was very well done. A very worthwhile movie to see.

A POEM "THE SNOW"

Don't sit there in your chair any longer,
Dreaming of times gone by.
This is the day we have been given;
Fill it with laughter, never a sigh.
Just look outside your window now
And see all that God has made.
The earth is filled with beauty rare;
At your feet, theses gems are laid.
Anywhere you chance to look,
The fields are white with snow.
Kids are out with friends and sleds,
Their faces all aglow.
There's much to see in the great outdoors
When Winter comes around.
Sounds of the season all seem new
With crunch of boots on frozen ground.
I thank my Lord for eyes to see
His loveliness everywhere,
O're hill and dale, meadow and tree,
Is spread this blanket of God's care.

Delicious Soup

We had a Soup Supper at our church this evening put on by our Sr. High Youth Group. People donate the soup, BBQ, buns, desserts, pop etc. then we come and eat it. I made 4 qts. of chicken soup. They had a good turn-out and the youth group did a great job serving us. They do this at least twice a year and everyone enjoys it. It is by donation and it is a good money=making project. The proceeds go towards their mission project.

Warning!

Yesterday my daughter and I were in our local restaurant when one of the waitresses sliped on the wet floor and fell right on her back. Her feet just went right from under her and down she went on the hard floor. She said she did not get hurt but she went to the restroom crying.
I'm sure she is very sore this morning. People we careful for the wet spots - very slippery!!

THOUGHT FOR TUESDAY

Yesterday is history,
tomorrow is a mystery.
Today, ah today, is a gift
that's why we call it the present.

BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE

Look at the tempature outside our door Sunday morning! It has been very cold in this area the last few days. The sun was shining most of the day but it stayed very cold. Some of our elderly stayed home from church this morning because of the cold. Hope it warms up real soon.

Exercises for People over 50

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface where you have plenty of room on each side.

With a 5-lb. potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute and then relax.

Each day you'll find you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb. potato bag. Then try 50-lb. potato bag and eventually 100-lb. potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)

After you feel confident at this level, put a potato in each bag.

Puzzle Fun

I bought a puzzle for 25 cents of the The Last Supper.
What a challenge it has been! It has a 1000 pieces.
My husband and I are slowly getting this puzzle together.
Winter is a great time to spend time putting a puzzle together.

My latest project

I'm been making lap quilts for Love INC. I want to make a full size quilt someday. I thought it would be good to practice on something smaller. I'm been enjoying it. It is a good winter project. Do you have a winter project you are working on?

A trip to Urgent Care

Last Friday I awoke early to a bladder infection. You know when you have one - all the signs are right there in front of you. A waited until around 3 p.m. (I don't know why I waited that long) and of course there were no openings with my Doctor. They suggested I go to Urgent Care on Wilson near M-6, which I did. I thought I would wait forever but I got right in and in about an hour and a half I was on my way home again with a prescription for an antibotic. I am well on my way to recovery. Thank God for Urgent Care!

My latest project

I've been making lap quilts for Love INC. My husband helps me cut out the squares. It makes the finished quilt look much better when the squares are cut out correctly. Someday I want to make a full size quilt so I thought it would be a good idea to practice on a smaller quilt first. I enjoy working on them, especially when it is snowing and blowing outside. Do you have a special project for the winter months?

Yummy Soup....

My son-in-law called and said Patty was making Cheese Soup and we were invited to join them for dinner tonight. The soup was delicious! The pig-in-the-blankets were great too. I don't make Cheese Soup so it was a real treat for us.

Sharing...........

My husband and I love to share. He got a cold a few days ago and now he has passed it on to me.
We are keeping the Kleenex company in business. We each have a kleenex box and a waste basket by our chair.
We don't talk much because we are either sneezing or blowing our nose most of the time.
Just a few days ago I was braging to my daughter how neither her Dad or myself had a cold all year.
(I guess that is what I get for braging.) We are looking forward to airing our house out after this is behind us.
No one is allowed to visit until we are through with this miserable cold!
