Can you say NO?

I have trouble saying NO! When I retired from my church secretary job in 2009 I was afraid I would run out of things to do. SO........whenever anyone asked me to do something or to take on a resposible I would say YES. But now I feel overwhelmed much of the time because all the yes's are turning into being a lot of work.

I am on the 100th anniversary committee for our church. I am responsible, along with one other person, for putting the booklet together. This means doing research into the history of our church, finding old pictures, interviewing our elderly members for information, taking recent pictures, along with correspondence with our ministers. It is alot of work! Interesting, enjoyable but a lot of work! It is nearing the end and I will very glad when it is at the printers.

I am also responsible for our Ladies Bible study. Getting study material and getting it started on the right track. Our first meeting is next Tuesday.

I am also on the committee for Small Groups at our church. Getting material for study and planning when to meet and who will lead each group.

Oh yes, I am one of a committee for our Cousin Reunion tool.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy all of it but I do have to learn to say NO when the next job comes up.

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm sure some of you do.

Yes, I have had this problem in the past. Being a busy mother of six children two are now in their 20's, I have had to learn to say the word NO.. Good often robbed me of the best in my life.. Church activities were good we were very involved but I read in "MY Utmost For His Highest" (Oswald Chambers), those words that changed my life forever. Good is the enemy of best. Pray about your priorities then let the Lord give you strength to say that difficult word NO.
Many Blessings,

I have had this problem also. Now I end up saying no quite often because I am always at work, but it still bothers me and I end up felling guilty about it.

It sort of snowballs, doesn't it? My husband has hardly ever said no, that's why he's as busy as he is. But after the move he is going to have a lot of spare time on his hands!!

It looks like people say, "If we want things done and done well, let's get Connie to do it!"

I am sure that you are a blessing to many people.
