Thoughts of the Elderly

We had a wonderful time of worship and fellowship again at our church yesterday.

We have quite a few elderly folks (late 80's and early 90's) who come faithfully for worship each Sunday. Some of them are widowed; some come as couples. One couple celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary recently. Many are walking with a cane. Some are holding on to eachother for support.

These folks teach us what it means "in sickness and in health, till death do us part". They show us what it means to be faithful to each other and to their God. They are the pillars of our church. It brings tears to my eyes when I wonder how long will we have the privilege of their presence at worship. They are so special

I appreciate these thoughts, Connie, and I share your feelings. Most of our "pillars" are suffering from serious illnesses just now, and it's so sad to see. They truly have been faithful examples of Christ-likeness to us. We have big shoes to fill as they leave us!

Older people can be such an example. I know one of the couples you are talking about, and they are a blessing to be around!
